Happy 90th Birthday Maurice Sendak
One of our favorite family books is Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
I loved it as a kid. We read it to our daughter when she was little.
We bought a copy in French (or Max et les Maximonstres) on our first family trip to Paris.
We took a trip to Seattle to see the last PNW Ballet production of the Nutcracker that used the Sendak set designs.
His stories and his art were captivating. And they continue to impact me today. Because human beings are defenseless against stories.
Happy 90th birthday, Mr. Sendak. I wish you were still here to captivate us.
